Certified Welding Instructor / Quality Control

Hickey Metal Fabrication is seeking a CWI/Quality Control. Candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced, job shop environment with high volume and product diversity.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Responsible that welding procedures are as specified and are qualified.

  • Ensure welding is performed in conformance to the applicable procedure.

  • Ensure all work is performed in a safe and professional manner.

  • Perform final inspections on machines parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies.

  • Perform inspections to engineering requirements specified per ANSI Y 14.5 - Geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) to equivalent standard.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certificate.

  • Must have 3-5 years as an AWS Certified weld inspector and quality experience.

  • Must be AWS QC-1 with minimum SNT-TC-1A, T Level II. Must be familiar with AWS D1.1 through D1.6.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in an occupational function that has direct relationship to welded assemblies fabricated to national or international standards.

  • Shall be familiar with: SMAW, SAW, GTAW, SCAW, and GMAW welding procedures.

  • Shall be familiar with: VT, UT, RT, MT, PT, and NDT methods.

  • Level II: UT, MT, PT, and VT experience and/or certification is desired.

  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards including AWS and ASTM required.

  • Working knowledge of NDT methodologies a plus.

  • Create and maintain weld test documents, create and maintain weld inspection procedures, create and maintain weld inspection records.

  • Have practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on machines parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches as well as train employees on the same.

  • Strong work ethic, dependable, exceptional safety and quality awareness.

  • Mechanical aptitude, adaptable to changing schedules, exceptional attention to detail, team work, and the ability to follow directions and procedures. 

  • Must be self-directed and have the ability to interact with supervisors, engineers, and customers.

  • Must be a self starter and capable or working independently with little oversight.

  • Must have a good attitude and good attendance.
